Weaving a web of dreams...

When I was putting my concepts together for the Autumn Blackberry Fairies painting, I was a bit flummoxed. I wanted to capture the rich orange textures of the wheat fields and the fluffy clouds in the blue skies at the turn of Autumn and express the delight of finding juicy blackberries. However, I felt it needed something to tie it all together. I couldn't work it out and left the painting on the rack for a bit.

Sometimes when you have some space, you find answers in the most unexpected places. I went to the car to run some errands and there was the most beautiful spider's web on my wing mirror. The spider had also webbed across my door lock so I couldn't get in without breaking it. It reminded me of the Native American teachings about the spider. Spider medicine reminds us to create, create, create!

I recalled how beautiful cobwebs are in autumn - especially when you get the first frost. So there you have it. I had to have a cobweb in my painting and a little fairy happily dreaming in a spider hammock.

You may have already seen the 10% discount on all my paintings, prints and cards until 31 December 2022. However, there is also currently a sale on my Redbubble merchandise. I'm intrigued to see what inspires you... I think I may treat myself to some fairy mugs!
