Summer Flower Fairies

I was first gifted the opportunity to see a fairy one day about 20 years ago when I was having a little rest on my sofa and with my eyes only slightly open, I saw one right in front of my face. It was so small, white and transluscent against a dark background. It was probably no more than 18mm and was darting and spinning round with such volocity that it was difficult to make out the features.

'Summer Flower Fairies' by Sonia Finch

The inexplicable joy that I felt rising in my heart was an experience like no other I have ever known. To see something that you knew to be true all your life when all around you believed it was just fairytales was quite out of this world.

When in time I saw other types of fairies, I realised that these were flower fairies and the tiniest of all. When seeing them through my third eye, I realised they were more pearlescent rather than transparent. Flower fairies seem to assist with the intricate work on the etheric layers of the third eye and transmuting the denser energies that build up due to our lifestyles. This is a lesser-known contribution that they make in addition to assisting the plants and flowers. We owe them such a debt of gratitude and so few see them as far as I am aware.

In this painting, I tried to capture the joy I feel for the fairy realms in the expression of the wise woman elf as she walks through the woodland wildflowers.

Recently I was asked why I don't focus on the the esoteric side of nature in my art and move away from wildlife and landscapes. However, for me landscapes and wildlife are intrinsic to all planes and all related. I also think it's good to keep ones feet on the ground even if one's head is in the clouds sometimes - like a girafe! 🤣

This is the second painting in the Summer Elemental Series. I'm working on a third, so watch this space!

Oil painting on a 30 x 30 x 1.5 cm stretched canvas with painted wraparound edges. Also available as a Limited Edition Giclée Print and Greeting Card.
