Knock knock!

June was a very difficult month for us as a family following the fall through of our move. I am still trying very hard to fathom out how to move forward. Woodpecker medicine reminds us that with re-birth comes new opportunities. Sometimes these may not always manifest in the way that we expect or plan them - even with the best of intentions.

This painting enabled me to really embrace creating textures with a palate knife which gives this painting a very tactile quality. I love the colour contrasts of the checked pattern of the feathers which shows balance between the extremes of light and dark.

I wanted to show Woodpecker's eyes determined and resolved. Focused on creating a home for its' young, despite the challenging task of manipulating wood with nothing but a beak to achieve it. Does the woodpecker give up and find another way when the going gets tough? Resort to making a home somewhere else with not such a spectacular view or safety from predators? Not a chance!

'When woodpecker comes tapping by your window, you are being urged to seize the moment, because an important opportunity is within your grasp. Don’t wait… success is yours if you act now!’

This is an Original oil painting on an 20 x 20 x 1.5 cm stretched canvas with painted wraparound edges. It is also available as a Limited Edition Giclée Print and blank Greeting Card.
