'How now brown cow?'

You know how sometimes your brain triggers a sentence in your head each time you see something in particular? This sentence has popped into my head throughout painting this spirit animal - I think it my mother used to say it to me as a child and it's kind of got lodged there.

I love cows. Our allotment backs onto a meadow full of them, munching and mooing away throughout the day without a care in the world. With all the drama and noise at this time, it's hard for humanity to see the wood for the trees and work out the best path to take. Cows seem primarily concerned with sharing and have a deep connection with Mother Earth. They take care of each other within the herd without any expectation of receiving back. They seem to be in perfect balance and we can learn a lot from them.

So I felt called to paint this remarkable being, who has contributed and sacrificed so much for humanity's survival and is so taken for granted.

'Cow medicine teaches us the joy of sharing our abundance with others and giving without the expectation of receiving. Through protecting our environment and those around us, we can ensure future abundance for all.'

Oil painting on 20x20cm stretched canvas with painted wrap-around. Available as a 18x18cm limited edition and greeting card.
