I so wanted to launch Spirit of Horse at the start of the year because the meaning of horse is all about going for it, charging forward and jumping over obstacles and challenges and being free and liberated. White horses in particular represent a new teacher or lesson about to arrive and water cleanses away all obstacles, whilst symbolising abundance.
It was the perfect message for a new beginning. Sadly, however, the paint did not dry in time so it is a little delayed. Oil paint is notoriously slow drying so I often have 2-6 paintings on the go at any one time and I have drying racks everywhere.
I want to dedicate this painting to 4 really amazing horse riders I know - Vicky, Cathy, Duncan and my great grandfather Vincent who was a jockey.
Thank you to everyone who shared their ideas for my schedule of paintings for 2023. It was really helpful for moving forward and is much appreciated! After seeing Avatar 2, I know water is going to be an important research study this year. I also have 2 big new projects for this year which I will try and fit in whilst I look for a bigger home for my family. So watch this space!
Spirit of Horse is an oil paint on a 20x20 x 1.5 cm stretched canvas with painted wraparound edges. It is available as a Limited Edition Giclée Print and Blank Greeting Card. The reverse of the card has the message ‘Horse teaches us that we have the power within us to express our soul freely and overcome the obstacles and challenges presented throughout life’s journey.’
