Atlantis is a part of history and mythology that I have always been fascinated with as a child and a rich source of ideas and wonder. I have often been drawn to turquoise both as a semi-precious stone and colour, and felt this was a soul connection to the mysterious continent that Plato wrote about in ancient times long forgotton by many.
A few years ago, a much admired and inspiring contactee for Andromeda - Alex Collier, discussed how Atlantis and Mu may one day reveal themselves to us as sea levels change and he gave indications of their locations and discussed life in those times. He also suggested that the ancient archeological structures under the oceans may once again be activated by benevolent amphibious beings. These ideas provided a wealth of inspiration for me to produce a painting that combined both mermaids, dolphins and a hump back whale, as well as many other beautiful aquatic life for children.
It has been said that dolphins, whales and octopus are equally if not more intelligent than humans and not of this world. The film 'Stargate' too is rich with inspiring possibilities, and I wanted to incorporate that within my painting to give other worldly dimensions to the theme.
I hope that my representation of Atlantis and mermaids will captivate children as much as it did me growing up. Maybe they will ask 'where does will the stargate take me in my dreams? Could there be more portals around in nature that we never notice as we go about our daily life?'. I hope that it will remind them how important it is to look after our oceans and aquatic life as guardians of our beautiful water world that is forever expanding to embrace more life.
This painting is also available as a multi-size limited edition print (A1, A2, A3) as well as a greeting card. The oil paint is still wet, so I am only able to take orders for A1 and A2 sizes, although I have A3 sizes ready to go.
